Since its founding in 1959 by Sara O' Meara and Yvonne Fedderson, Childhelp has become one of the United States' oldest and largest national nonprofits dedicated to the treatment and prevention of child abuse and neglect. Arizona is home to the Childhelp National Headquarters, as well as:

The Childhelp Children's Center of Arizona (Phoenix)

The center, which opened in 1998, utilizes a highly effective, one-stop approach to the investigation and treatment of child abuse. The child-friendly environment and team approach with law enforcement, medical and mental health professionals, and child protective services officials, increases efficiency while minimizing the trauma to the child.

Childhelp Children's Mobile Advocacy Center of Northern Arizona

A partnership with Safe Child Center at Flagstaff Medical Center, the Childhelp Children's Mobile Advocacy Center of Northern Arizona provides a variety of services to abused children in rural and tribal communities. The first of its kind in Arizona, the mobile center offers one-stop multidisciplinary services at selected locations in Northeastern Arizona, reducing investigation time and trauma for abuse victims and their non-offending family members.

California

Childhelp has a long history of making a difference in the lives of abused and neglected children in California:

In 1978, Childhelp developed a residential treatment facility exclusively for severely abused children—the Village of Childhelp West in Beaumont, California. Along with its excellent therapeutic programs, the village incorporated innovative programs such as art and animal assisted therapy. More than 20 years later, it continues to serve as a model for rehabilitating the lives of abused and neglected children ages 6 through 13.

In addition to the Village of Childhelp West, Childhelp California operates three smaller residential community group homes and a foster family agency. Children under the care of Childhelp benefit from a continuum of care ranging from intensive therapeutic treatment to family stabilization. The integration of these programs allows for close monitoring of a child's progress and development to ensure the most successful outcome.
