Programs and Services

Childhelp has a long history of making a difference in the lives of abused and neglected children in California.
In addition to the Village of Childhelp West, Childhelp California
operates three smaller residential community group homes, and a foster
family agency. Children under the care of Childhelp benefit from
a continuum of care ranging from intensive therapeutic treatment to
family stabilization. The integration of these programs allows for
close monitoring of a child's progress and development to ensure the
most successful outcome.

Treatment
Childhelp Village West

|
The Chapel at Childhelp Village West in California
|
Opened in 1978 as a state-of-the-art residential treatment facility
exclusively for severely abused children, this model program has
received national and international recognition for innovation and
excellence. The 120-acre village is always at capacity with 80 children ranging in age from six to 13 years.
Foster Family Agency of California
The Childhelp
Foster Family Agency of California was established in 1988 as a
placement alternative for children who had completed treatment at the
Village of Childhelp West. Today, the agency is authorized to recruit,
certify and supervise foster families in Southern California, and
provides emergency shelter care and direct county agency placements. In
addition to recruitment and certification, the agency provides initial
and continuous in-depth training and support for foster families, as
well as financial reimbursement to foster families to help meet the
needs of the youth in their care. Every foster parent is considered an
extension of the treatment staff.
Group Homes
In
Orange County, Childhelp operates three group homes in residential
neighborhoods which provide an intensive level of therapeutic services
in a less restrictive setting than the Village of Childhelp West (a
residential treatment facility). The group homes serve as a transition
from the larger, more structured setting of the Childhelp village to
foster, adoptive, or relatives' homes.
